Interactive Scenery

“A Study of Who, a collaboration between director Heather Eddington and poet Anna Mae Selby, is an intimate dance performance that depicts the five stages of grief.” Throughout the performance, the dancer interacts with a set of 30 lights that dynamically change with the movement and music. Although this particular performance is set up beforehand by the stage crew, it rasies an interesting question about the possibility of real-time interaction between performers and the set on stage. Is something like this the key to keeping performing arts alive to a digital generation?
